Ramadan

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic Luna calendar which includes twelve months .The moon month begins with the appearance of the first quarter of the moon in the horizon and takes 29 to 30 days.

Ramadan is one of the holiest months in Islam where Muslims fast during the day and give up all kind of corporal pleasure from the dawn to the sunset. In some cases Muslims have the permission to eat, such as women in their monthly periods, mental patients, the patients who cannot fast, children, and even those who are traveling.

Fasting in Ramadan aims to manifest the equality between human being regardless to their skins, white or black , regardless to their economic situation , poor or rich , all of these things are renounced and surrendered to Allah .Yet Fasting in Islam is not only giving up eating and drinking during the day but also worshipping and performing all sorts of adoration such as the night prayers; giving arms, and being supportive with the needy, providing relief to the poor, keep a way from the abjectness and getting in bad habits, and especially insult, calumniate, gossip and cheating the others.

Besides that Ramadan teaches us justice and solidarity, it offers Muslims the occasion to be patient and face anger and respect the rights of the cousins, neighbors, and all the others, Muslims or no Muslims. Muslims can learn all these virtues in this month of forgiveness and self-control where people can help each other and advice each other, this month is like an ethic supermarket where it should profit from all the offers and that the reward of Allah is more than in the other months and in the other days.

Lastly, in the end of Ramadan Muslims celebrate Aid El-fitr , it is the biggest feast and the most important day in the year together with El Adha feast “ Lamb’s Feast “ . In this day Muslims wake up early, have their breakfast, put their best clothes, go to the mosque for prayer. Once the prayer is over Muslims greet each others, congratulate and hug each other whether they know each other or not. Within the day Muslims exchanges visits and congratulate each other.
